Terms of Service – Prep Mate

Welcome to Prep Mate — published on Google Play under the app name “IT Interview Questions” — (“App”, “Service”, “we”, “our”, or “us”). By downloading, accessing, or using Prep Mate, you agree to these Terms of Service.

1. Description of the Service

Prep Mate is a mobile application designed to help users prepare for technical interviews and improve software development knowledge through quizzes, educational content, AI-generated explanations, and gamified learning features.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum legal age in your country, to use the Service.

3. User Accounts

You are responsible for:

• maintaining the confidentiality of your account;
• all activities performed through your account;
• providing accurate information.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

• Certain features of the App may require a paid subscription (“Premium”).
• Payments and subscription management are handled by Google Play.
• Prices may vary by country and may change in the future.
• Unless required by applicable law, all purchases are final and refunds are subject to Google Play policies.

5. Educational Purpose Only

Prep Mate is provided for educational and informational purposes only.

We do not guarantee:

• interview success;
• employment offers;
• certification results;
• accuracy or completeness of all content.

AI-generated explanations and educational materials may occasionally contain inaccuracies or outdated information.

6. Availability of the Service

The Service is provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis.

We do not guarantee that:

• the App will always function without interruptions;
• the Service will be error-free;
• all bugs will be fixed immediately;
• the Service will always be available in all regions or on all devices.

Features may be modified, suspended, or removed at any time without prior notice.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Prep Mate and its owner shall not be liable for:

• indirect or consequential damages;
• loss of data;
• loss of profits;
• interruption of business;
• exam or interview outcomes;
• technical failures or service downtime.

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by the user for the Service during the previous 12 months.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• reverse engineer the App;
• abuse or exploit bugs;
• use automated systems to access the Service;
• upload malicious content;
• violate applicable laws.

9. Intellectual Property

All content, branding, logos, designs, and software associated with Prep Mate remain the property of Prep Mate and its owner unless otherwise stated.

User-Submitted Content license. If you submit quiz questions, answer options, explanations, code snippets, or other content through Creator or contribution features (“Submitted Content”), you retain authorship of that content. By submitting it, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, adapt, edit, translate, publish, and distribute the Submitted Content — including as part of the public question bank made available to other users — for as long as we operate the Service. This license survives deletion of your account: Submitted Content that was approved and published before deletion may remain part of the Service, but we remove or anonymize the link between that content and your personal identity upon a verified deletion request, as described in our Account & data deletion page. This clause concerns only the economic/usage rights needed to operate the Service; it does not affect non-waivable moral rights of authorship you may hold under applicable law (e.g. Romanian Law No. 8/1996 on copyright). Submitted Content that is rejected during review, or never published, is deleted and is not subject to this license.

10. Third-Party Services

The App may use third-party services including:

• Google Play Services;
• Firebase;
• analytics providers;
• AI providers such as OpenAI;
• cloud hosting providers.

We are not responsible for third-party service interruptions or issues.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the Service at any time if these Terms are violated.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Prep Mate — published on Google Play under the app name “IT Interview Questions” — (“App”, “Service”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data.

1. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use the App, we may collect:

Account Information

• email address;
• username;
• authentication identifiers.

Usage Information

• quiz progress;
• completed lessons;
• streaks and achievements;
• app interactions;
• crash reports and diagnostics.

Device Information

• device model;
• operating system version;
• app version;
• anonymous identifiers.

Subscription Information

Payments are processed by Google Play. We do not store full payment card details.

2. How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

• provide and improve the Service;
• personalize learning experiences;
• maintain user progress;
• process subscriptions;
• detect abuse or fraud;
• improve app stability and performance.

3. AI Features

Certain features may use AI providers such as OpenAI to generate educational explanations or assistance.

Content submitted to AI-powered features may be processed by third-party AI providers in accordance with their policies.

Users should not submit sensitive personal information through AI chat or explanation features.

4. Analytics and Third-Party Services

We may use third-party services including:

• Google Play Services;
• analytics providers;
• cloud hosting providers;
• AI service providers.

These providers may process limited technical information necessary to operate the Service.

5. Data Retention

We retain user data only as long as necessary to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, or resolve disputes.

Published Submitted Content (quiz questions and similar content you contributed and that was approved for the public question bank) is treated differently: it may remain part of the Service after you delete your account, under the license described in Terms of Service §9. Deleting your account removes your personal data and disconnects your identity from that content, but does not remove the previously-published content itself, unless removal is required by law.

6. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect user information. However, no system can guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:

• access your data;
• correct inaccurate data;
• request deletion of your personal data, subject to §5’s treatment of already-published Submitted Content;
• object to certain processing activities.

8. International Users

Your information may be processed and stored in countries different from your country of residence.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
